Introduction

In this pattern, you'll learn how to crochet a tiny pear-shaped bag. This adorable bag is perfect for small accessories or as a decorative piece. The project includes crocheting the top part of the bag, the main body, and sewing the pieces together neatly.

Step-by-Step Guide to Crochet Tiny Pear-Shaped Bag

Part 1: Making the Top Part of the Bag

Step 1: Create the Base Circle

  1. Start with a magic ring.
  2. Chain 2 (this chain is not considered as a stitch).
  3. Crochet 10 double crochets into the magic ring.
  4. Pull the yarn to close the ring.
  5. Chain 2 and turn.

Step 2: Adding Half Double Crochets

  1. The chain 2 is not considered as a stitch.
  2. Make 1 half double crochet into the first space or stitch.
  3. Chain 1, then crochet 1 half double crochet into the next stitch.
  4. Repeat the pattern of [half double crochet + chain 1] for each stitch.
  5. At the end of the row, you will have 10 half double crochets and 9 chain spaces.

Step 3: Creating Double-Crochet Clusters

  1. Turn the work. Insert the hook into the first chain space (from the previous row).
  2. Slip stitch to join and chain 2 (this chain is considered a half double crochet).
  3. Make 2 double crochets, chain 1, then 2 double crochets all into the same space.
  4. Skip the next space and repeat [2 double crochets + chain 1 + 2 double crochets] into the next available space.
  5. Continue this pattern across the row and complete the last stitch with 1 half double crochet.

Step 4: Forming Petals

  1. Turn the work and begin with the first chain space.
  2. Work 5 double crochets into the chain space, with 1 chain space between each stitch.
  3. Repeat this pattern in each of the "V-shaped" chain spaces across the row.
  4. At the end of the row, finish with 4 double crochets in the last space, and crochet the final double crochet into the corner stitch.
  5. Hide the yarn tails and cut the yarn, leaving enough for sewing.

Part 2: Making the Body of the Bag

Step 1: Create the Foundation Chain

  1. Make a slip knot onto your hook.
  2. Chain 23 stitches.

Step 2: First Row - Double Crochets in the Back Bumps

  1. Skip the first 3 chains and work into the back bumps of the next chain.
  2. Crochet 1 double crochet in each back bump across the row.
  3. At the end, you should have 20 stitches.

Step 3: Build the Rows

  1. Chain 3, turn your work. This chain 3 does not count as a stitch.
  2. Make 1 double crochet in each stitch across the row (starting from the first stitch).
  3. Repeat the pattern for each row until you reach the desired length.
  4. For this bag, complete 16 rows of double crochet.

Part 3: Assembling the Bag

Step 1: Sewing the Top to the Body

  1. Place the top part of the bag over the last row of the body.
  2. Focus on the front loops only in the last row of the body, leaving the back loops untouched.
  3. Using the extra tail from the top part, sew the top to the body, starting from one corner.

Step 2: Joining the Sides

  1. Fold the body of the bag.
  2. Begin sewing the sides using the loops closest to the edge on both sides.
  3. Continue joining the two sides all the way down the length of the bag.
  4. Ensure the stitches are evenly spaced for a neat finish.

Conclusion

This tiny pear-shaped bag is a fun and rewarding project that combines basic crochet patterns and simple assembly techniques. Whether used as a decorative item or for small accessories, this adorable bag showcases your crochet skills.
