DIY Kids School Desk

It’s a natural extension of the woodworking hobby to build furniture for your home. The problem is that there are so many options out there, from pre-made kits to custom design work, that it can be tough to decide where to start. If you have kids in the house then having a dedicated workspace for them is important. Whether they need a space to complete homework or they want a spot to work on crafts, kids need all the help they can get with organization, and having their own space makes that easier.

Building your child their very own desk can also make them feel like they are part of the family business, giving them a sense of pride and accomplishment. It could even motivate them to clean up after themselves or even teach them how to organize their stuff better. With this article, we’ll show you two ways that you can build your child their own desk, one using pocket screws and glue, and another more advanced method that uses dovetails and half-lap joints for greater strength and durability.

DIY Kids Desk

Woodworking is a skill that can be learned, and it takes time to become proficient at it. If you’re just starting out, you’ll have to begin with the basics and work your way up to more complicated projects. However, there are some things you can build even when you’re new to woodworking. A DIY kids desk is a great project for beginners because it doesn’t require complex woodwork techniques. You don’t need a special saw or tool for this project. A table saw will do just fine, but make sure that it has a riving knife installed so that your saw is not going to bind up while making the kids' desk. You could also use the metal chop saw if you want to get some extra cuts in before using the table saw.

How To Make A Kids Desk

A simple kids' desk can be a great project for almost any beginner woodworker. For this kid's desk, we have used no power tools and the entire project was completed in about a few hours. The finished product is actually quite strong and sturdy as it will support up to 250 pounds. In this tutorial, we'll show you how to build a kids' desk that is a bit different from the typical desks you see out there. This one features storage for school supplies and is made out of plywood.

To begin this project, you will need to take accurate measurements of the final product. The measurements can be found in the description box below. Basically, what's needed are two sides that are 50 inches wide by 20 inches deep by 30 inches high with two (2) side storage compartments each measuring 10 inches wide by 18 inches deep by 6 ¾ inches high. The height of the legs can vary depending on your needs but we suggest that they be at least 12 inches tall so that your child has enough room under the desk for storage purposes.
