How To Tie A Pirate Head Scarf

Have you ever wondered how to tie a pirate scarf? It sounds like a ridiculous question, but there are actually several ways to do it.

This is possibly the easiest way to do this. You need a 20x20" square piece of cotton material. Hold it on two opposite sides and let the corner between the two sides fall over to form a small triangle. The remaining materials will have to form something like a bigger triangle. Put your head on the small triangle and flip the remaining piece of clothing backward, smooth it out, and use the tails made by the small triangle to knot a square tie on top of the bigger triangle on your head. This works best with longish hair but is great for anyone who wants to be comfortable or is trying to get out of their comfort zone.

Origami Pirate Hat DIY

When you follow this instruction, you get a pretty cool hat. The materials needed for this simple project are a sheet of black paper, white paper, pencil, scissors, and a glue stick.

First, you will fold the black paper into two halves, then fold again to quarter. Unfold the quarter and fold the two corners of the half down on the middle line. Fold up the bottom margin and glue it to both sides of the corner. Use white paper to carve a symbol in the form of a hat. For example, you can draw a skull or crossbones on it like a real pirate hat. Then wear your fancy new pirate hat with some black boots and a long-sleeved shirt. You can even wear it at night with a cape! Your friends will be so impressed!

If you want a hat that shows your gothic pirate personality, here is the step-by-step guide to making your own. The first thing you will need to do is to choose a fabric. You can choose wool, or thick cotton, or crepe material. The fabric should be about 1.5 meters for one hat. Use the scissors to cut the fabric into a circle shape and then attach it to a circular head form with glue. Cut the fabric in a way that the center of the circle form is not visible from the outside when you wear it.

Tie two ribbons on the front of your head form and attach them to either side of your hair with hairpins. It is kid-friendly and it takes less time to complete.

Fold the newspaper from top to bottom, then fold all the two upper corners of the newspaper down. Carve the brim of the hat from the bottom margin and pull the hat open. The edges of the newspaper will fray if left unfolded for too long so finish off by folding them down again on all sides except for one long edge in order to create a tab for attaching the pom or feather onto it.

Newspaper Hat

Newspaper Hat Save

To make this project you'll need some newspaper, a marker, scissors, and an old baseball cap. First, lay out a sheet of newspaper and decide which side will be the inside of the hat. Then, fold over the brim of the hat to create a crease. Make sure that you can still insert your head through the hat.

Then, cut all around the outside perimeter of the hat, but be sure to leave about ½ inch uncut on each side. Now unfold your hat and flatten out your paper. Using a ruler, draw lines down the length of your newspaper at inch intervals. You should have 6 or 7 lines total. Getting a ruler with millimeter measurements makes this part much easier. After making all of your marks, use scissors to cut along those lines so that you have strips approximately 1 inch wide, keeping in mind that you may want slightly wider strips for larger hats or more narrow strips for smaller hats.

Now simply wrap each strip around a section of your hat and secure it with tape or glue before moving onto the next strip. Continue until all sides are covered by newspaper strips and then wear your new hat proudly!
