Resin Serving Tray

Here's the project I've been working on for the last few days. A resin serving tray from wood scraps and marble is cast in resin. I think it turned out great, maybe one of my best pieces. The problem with resin is that it shrinks a lot once it cures, and sometimes your casting can be ruined if you're not careful. This part was a new experience, and I haven't done many inlaid pieces, so I had to figure out an approach. My initial design was to use interlocking slots, so it would require very little resin to hold all of the pieces together, but because of shrinkage, the idea was doomed from the start, and I scrapped the design halfway through.

Pearl White Resin Tray

It's best for gifting purposes to meet your loved ones or friends on different occasions such as birthdays and anniversaries.

Resin Casting Tutorial

The easiest, most reliable, and most dependable way to cast resin is by using wood, trays base, and setting up dried flowers. To begin, set your tray on a solid surface. Then make sure to have your resin and dried flowers in place. Then start by adding your glitter first, then add your butterfly in the center. It's great to cast resin pieces that are flexible, lightweight, and non-breakable. Being both flexible and lightweight, they can be used many times without losing the ability to spring back into shape.
