The process is pretty straightforward, with the exception of that tricky drilling. You will need to drill out four holes in the center of each bottle -- two for the wires to go through and two for the light sockets. To start, you are going to want to clean out any excess glass so that you can get a nice, smooth cut around the neck of each bottle. If you don't do this, there is a good chance your drill will stick and you will have to start all over again.

Once you have cleaned up each bottle, it's time to measure and mark where you are going to drill. You are going to need one hole on each side of the bottle, equidistant from the top edge of the bottle and the bottom edge of the mouth opening. Try to make sure that they are directly opposite one another on either side of the bottleneck.

Wine Bottle Chandelier: Part 1- Cutting A Wine Bottle

Once you've picked your bottle and you know which way you want it to hang, hold the wine bottle directly in front of the light. Looking inside of the neck, look for the bottom seam of the wine glass. If there are multiple seams, choose one that's easy to break.

Next, take your rubber mallet and tap around the seam line until it breaks off. Once it's broken off, use a cloth to wipe down any excess glass or wine remnants from inside of the bottle. There might be some jagged edges once you've cleaned everything out, so make sure to smooth those out using sandpaper or a nail file before moving on!

Once everything is clean and smooth on both sides of the wine glass, place your lamp kit into one end of the wine glass and hold it in place securely. Make sure that everything fits properly before proceeding!
